5 Tips for Self-Isolating & Managing your Dry Eye Symptoms
Written by Laura Baldassare (Brand Manager, I-MED Pharma)
To the essential personnel on the front lines of this global health crisis, we at I-MED Pharma thank you.
During this difficult time, a lot of us are self-isolating and working from home. With all the increased exposure to television screens, laptops, tablets and mobile phones, your eyes may feel uncomfortable and your dry eye symptoms may be exacerbated.
Here are 5 tips to stay healthy during self-isolation:
1) Stay Active
Give your eyes a break from watching screens and get moving! Put on your favorite running shoes and go outside to get some fresh air. Take the time to listen to music and have a refreshing stroll or a great workout.
2) Eat Nutritiously
It may be tempting to order food delivery at this time and you can most certainly treat yourself occasionally. However, be mindful to eat at a balanced, nutritious diet as often as you can. You will feel more energized! Don’t forget that Omega-3s are very beneficial for your brain, digestive system, and eye health, among other things. It is important to include these in your diet, either by eating fish or chia seeds or by taking a supplement such as our I-VU® OMEGA-3 PLUS.
3) Follow the 20-20-20 Rule
Long periods of screen use can cause eye strain and increase dry eye symptoms. For every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes a break. Why not stand up and look out the window?
4) Alleviate Stress
Take a nice warm bath, cook some of your favorite recipes or unwind with a glass of wine and a good book. Using our I-RELIEFTM HOT and COLD Therapy Eye Mask forces you to lie down and relax, which is a great way to alleviate stress and care for your eyes all at the same time.
